Team Hydra is a development studio, an infrastructure operator, and the team behind some of the largest bots on Discord. Founded in 2019 around Zira and part of Sunrise Unified IT in Canada, we design, ship and operate everything ourselves, from application code to the BGP routing on our own network, AS31905.

How we got here

One bot,then the rest.

2019
Zira ships
A reaction-role bot for a few servers. Within months it was one of the fastest growing bots on Discord.
2020
A team forms
HepBoat, AppBot, KeyBot and Zira Music follow in quick succession. Team Hydra becomes a studio rather than a side project.
2021
Big names arrive
Amazon, Gucci, Nickelodeon and Taylor Swift run their communities on our tools. Scale stops being the exception.
2022
AS31905 goes live
We stop renting. Our own autonomous system with dedicated IPv4 space at 23.150.184.0/24, custom peering, and hardware we physically manage.
2023
Full service
Web, custom software and infrastructure work for other people join the lineup.

160 million people
Over 160 million people reached across two million servers, more than 150 products shipped, and a client list that runs from Fortune 500 brands to independent creators. Still building.

What we believe

Privacy is not a feature

Zira reports "user data harvested: 0" because it is true. We have never sold data and there is no plan in a drawer somewhere to start.

Boring beats clever

A thing that works every day beats a thing with a hundred features. We would rather delay a release than ship a bug into two million servers.

Build in the open

Our Discord is where the roadmap gets argued about. The people using the tools talk directly to the people writing them.

Own the stack

Application code, hosting, routing. The fewer things we depend on someone else for, the faster we fix things when they break.

Most studios rent a VPS and call it infrastructure. We operate AS31905, our own autonomous system with dedicated IPv4 space at 23.150.184.0/24. We peer directly with major networks, control our own BGP routing, run always-on DDoS mitigation, and manage hardware we can physically touch. When a platform serves 160 million people, the difference between our host had issues and we fixed it in four minutes is the difference between a service people trust and one they tolerate.
